Sensitive Environments

Aqueonics was the first wastewater treatment company in 1986 to be approved for construction of a 100,000 gpd facility in the Pinelands Forest Preserve of Mays Landing, NJ. The facility and its subsurface discharge met some of the strictest quality demands in the country at the time of 2.5 mg/l of nitrogen. Discharge beds were located in a power line right-of-way to allow full development of the land.

The Oaks of Weymouth - 1986

  • Location: Mays Landing, NJ
  • System Type: Alternating Aerobic/Anaerobic Trickling Filter System
  • Discharge Type: Aquifer Recharge to Environmentally Sensitive Aquifers

  • Use: Residential

The Oaks was unique in being the first to earn the approval of the Pinelands Commission for service to a 642-unit adult recreational development in the Pinelands Forest Preserve near Mays Landing.  The 100,000 gpd facility meets the Commission limits for nitrogen that were some of the most stringent in the country at the time at 2.5 mg/l nitrogen.
